That boat on the left is the standard "taxi" on this island -- its called a 'longtail' and it fits 6-8 people comfortably.  There are several private beaches on this island, and as I've mentioned earlier -- there are no road/cars on this island.  So you either hike through the jungle or take a boat to get where you wanna go.  There is a main town on Phi Phi -- it's where the tsunami of 2004 hit badly -- this beach was spared the wrath of mother nature.....  i've got some photos of the town later in the gallery -- its quite a spectacular view actually......  
Anyway -- taking a longtail to town will  cost about 3 dollars per person and the ride takes about 25 minutes depending on how rough the water is.
